Renison Tailings Retreatment Project “Rentails”
(MLX 50%)
During the June 2017 quarter, the Bluestone Mines Tasmania Joint Venture (BMTJV) completed an updated feasibility study (“DFS Update”) of Rentails (refer to ASX announcement dated 3 July 2017), which confirmed Rentails as a robust, high margin project.
The primary objective of the Rentails Project is to re-process an estimated 22.5 million tonnes of tailings at an average grade of 0.44% tin and 0.23% copper from the historical processing of tin ore at Renison.
The current tailings dams have a Probable Ore Reserve containing approximately 99,000 tonnes of tin and 51,000 tonnes of copper.
Rentails is proposed to retreat the historical tailings over an 11 year period at an average rate of 2 million tonnes per annum to produce approximately 5,400 tonnes of tin per annum in a high grade tin fume product and 2,200 tonnes of copper per annum in a high grade copper matte.
The BMTJV is progressing environmental approvals for Rentails, completing metallurgical testwork and is also in ongoing discussions with the Tasmanian Government regarding key infrastructure details.
